When and where will the HIV2020 conference take place?

The inaugural HIV2020 conference will take place July 5-7, 2020 in Mexico City. Our venue will be announced soon!

How can I register for HIV2020?

Registration is now open here and will remain open until June 30th, 2020 or until the maximum number of registrants has been reached. The registration fee to attend the three-day conference is USD 500 for participants age 30 and up. Participants age 29 and under will be charged a fee of USD 180.

How can I apply for a scholarship?

Scholarship applications are included as part of our registration form here. We will be offering partial and full scholarships to ensure participation across key populations. Scholarship applications close January 31st, 2020.

Scholarship applicants are also encouraged to raise funds to cover some of the cost for participating in HIV2020. For additional fundraising tips and suggestions, we have created this community guideline to help participants attend for our event.

Is the conference schedule available?

A preliminary version of the three day schedule for HIV2020 is now available here. More details will become available soon!

How do I lead a session at HIV2020?

We are currently seeking proposals to develop and lead thematic sessions during the first two days of HIV2020. Expressions of Interest are due here no later than January 31, 2020. Please download and read the full guidelines for submission here.

Why was the HIV2020 Conference created?

The overarching goal of HIV2020 is to provide a safe alternative for individuals who are unable or unwilling to enter the U.S. in 2020, as well as those who cannot afford to attend the International AIDS Conference. It will also offer opportunities to reaffirm the leading role communities play in the global HIV response. You can download a full set of talking points for key populations to help spread the word about HIV2020 here.

Why is this event happening in Mexico City?

Mexico City was selected to host our event after conversations with our global and local partners identified it as a unique location that is safe and secure for communities who would not be able to attend an international conference in the United States including people who use drugs, sex workers, and people living with HIV. You can download a full set of talking points for key populations to help spread the word about HIV2020 here.

How do I apply for a visa?

HIV2020 can provide letters of invitation upon request to registrants who have paid their fee in full or who have received an official scholarship. To request a letter of invitation, please contact us at registration@hiv2020.org

How can I sponsor the HIV2020 conference?

Your support will help to ensure that community advocates with minimal financial means can attend and that the voices of grassroots activists from around the world will be heard on a global stage. We will also need grant support and corporate sponsorship to cover venue, communication, catering, translation, and staff costs. To join us in our fundraising efforts, please contact us at info@hiv2020.org
