The HIV2020 Conference is aiming to shake up the way we think about global convenings on sexual health and human rights. We’re modeling an innovative approach to developing our program, to ensuring community involvement, and to using international platforms to truly speak truth to power.
We know a lot of you have questions, and we’re here to answer them!
We are just one week away from the deadlines to apply for scholarships and programs, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to make it to HIV2020.
Here are a few of the frequently asked questions we’ve been receiving at firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I apply for a scholarship? I don’t see the form on the website!
In order to create a simplified process, we have included the scholarship application as part of the registration form at https://www.hiv2020.org/registration. Within this brief form, you will find questions indicating the level of financial support you would need in order to attend. This is all of the information we’re requesting at this time.
I applied for a scholarship, why haven’t I heard back yet?
The scholarship applications will close next Friday, January 31st at which point a community-led group of reviewers will work to ensure scholarships are going equitably to participants from all across the world, with emphasis on people from the global south, and across all key populations.
Since we cannot give scholarships to everyone, we are also encouraging people to do fundraise for their own attendance at HIV2020. We’ve compiled a set of fundraising tips for community members that is now available in English | Español | Français | Português | русский
I have a great idea for a workshop session! How do I apply to be part of the program?
The process to apply to lead a session in our conference’s program is very simple – just download this form (available in English | Español | Français | Português | русский ) and upload it to our online form at https://www.hiv2020.org/submit. The program applications close next Friday, January 31st so be sure to read the guidelines thoroughly, as only applications that fill out all the proper fields and apply to our conference’s theme will be selected.
I want my program application to stand out! What kind of workshops are you looking for?
We’re encouraging applications that think beyond the conferences we’re used to. Our focus is on programming half and full day workshops that not only allow for superficial learning, but create a space and offer the time for innovative thinking, coalition building, and having the in-depth collaborative conversations that lead to a sustainable response. Programming can happen in any five of our official conference languages. Read our proposal review criteria here.
We know this is not the conference many of us are used to, and that is a very exciting thing! Our goal is to #ReclaimTheResponse from the institutions who have overtaken AIDS Inc, and create sustainable interventions that are truly community-led. As such, we are relying on all of our communities to help build this conference together, and are looking for inputs, feedback, and questions along the way!
